Appetizer Dip / Spread


Hummus Recipe made easy. Are you looking for how to make hummus? Follow these quick and easy and the prep time is normally only 10 - 15 minutes. This is one of the more popular Middle Eastern Appetizer dips. Served with fresh veggies or chips, toasted pita bread, and garnished with finely chopped parsley on top. This dip/spread makes for a great snack or appetizer. And can be stored up to 3 days in airtight container.

Hummus

Ingredients

    1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
    1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas
    3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste)
    1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions

Drain chickpeas and set aside the liquid from the can. Combine remaining ingredients in your blender or food processor. Add the 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth. Then serve immediately with fresh veggies, breadsticks or a toasted pita bread, or cover and refrigerate. Variations If you prefer a spicy dip, add a little red chile or a dash of cayenne pepper.
