Sugar Cookie


Sugar cookie is a definite one of those easy recipes to have on hand in your recipe box. Commonly made year round for the holidays. The dough rolled out and made into shapes. It is then baked & decorated with frosting and sprinkles. The old fashioned sugar cookie that is rolled into sugar or topped with candy. They are all delicous. It is just one great cookie!!!




Sugar Cookie Recipe for "Cut-Out"

Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl mix together all wet ingredients and sugar in bowl until well combined. Mix together flour, baking powder & soda and salt. Gradually pour in dry ingredients into wet mixture and blended well until totally combined.

Cover and chill for 2 Hours.

Preheat oven 400 degrees F or(200 degrees C).

On a lightly floured surface roll out dough to within a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Space apart abot 2 inches onto a ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 4 to 7 minutes. Adjust depending on your cookie size.

Makes: 5 Dozen

Buttercream Frosting for Sugar Cookies

1 pound confectioner sugar
5 tablespoons water
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon butter flavored extract

Combine all ingredients with a electric mixer until combined and fluffy. Only frosted cookies when completely cooled.



Cracked Soft Center Sugar Cookies


Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups white sugar
2 cups butter
6 egg yolks
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups of all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tarter

Directions:

Preheat oven 350 degrees F(180 Degrees C)

Combine together sugar and butter then beat in yolks and vanilla.

Now add all dry ingredients mix until well combined.

Form dough into walnut size balls and place on a lightly greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Do not flatten!!!

Bake for around 10 minutes until just turning color and tops are cracked.
